    TAS Missing Person Barry Petersen 

    Thursday, 4 August 2011 – 11:38 am.

    Police are currently reviewing the investigation into missing person Barry John Petersen.

    Mr Petersen was last seen approximately 11.00pm on 5 January 1992, leaving an address in Short Street, Glebe. Aged 37 at the time of his disappearance, Mr Petersen was described as being about 178 cm tall, of medium build, with wavy brown hair and hazel eyes, wearing green track pants, white running shoes and a jumper.

    Mr Petersen has made no contact with family since his disappearance.

    ”There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Mr Petersen. This is a standard review being conducted in accordance with Tasmania Police investigative procedures, in relation to historical missing person cases,” said Constable Elise Clark, of Hobart Police Station.

    TAS Stolen Farm Equipment at New Norfolk 

    Wednesday, 17 September 2014 – 9:51 am.

    New Norfolk police are currently investigating the stealing of excavator buckets and other farm equipment from the Tickleberry Farm on the Lyell Highway, New Norfolk.

    A shed on the property was unlawfully entered between 5 August and 12 August 2014 and the property removed.

    TAS Thefts of motorcycles in Chigwell area 

    Thursday, 3 July 2014 – 4:55 pm.

    Police investigators are appealing for public information about the theft of a motorbike in Chigwell in the early hours of Monday morning.

    It is the third theft of a motorbike or motorbike equipment in the area in the last 10 days.

    The orange and black KTM 300cc motorbike was stolen from a shed at a house in Chigwell sometime between 1am and 10am on Monday.

    In the last 10 days a red Honda CRF450 motorcycle was stolen from a shed in Claremont and a motorcycle helmet, gloves, knee guards, armour and boots stolen from a shed in Berriedale.

    Investigating officer, Senior Constable Jennifer Wood, said:

    ”While any theft is unacceptable, this is a particularly concerning number of thefts in the same area in a short space of time.

    ”There is nothing at this stage to suggest the thefts are linked but it is a clear reminder of the need to ensure sheds and garages are well secured.

    TAS Cigarette Burglary Sandy Bay 

    Friday, 22 November 2013 – 3:39 pm.

    Hobart detectives are appealing for information relating to a burglary that occurred during the early hours of Friday 22nd November at the York Street Store at the intersection of York Street and Regent Street Sandy Bay.

    During the burglary offenders have stolen approximately $30,000 worth of various brand cigarettes and a quantity of cash.

    Police are appealing for information from any person who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or who may have knowledge of the burglary. They are particularly interested in anybody who may have been approached being offered cheap tobacco products.

    TAS Serious single vehicle crash at Tollard Drive Rokeby 

    Tuesday, 29 October 2013 – 4:18 pm.

    Two Rokeby women (aged 53 and 36) are in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition after being struck by a motor vehicle on Tollard Drive, Rokeby about 10.50am on Tuesday 29thOctober 2013.

    The two women and a dog were walking along the western footpath in a southerly direction. At this time a black Hyundai hatch being driven by a 64 year old woman also from Rokeby was travelling along Tollard Drive in a southerly direction.

    The black Hyundai has veered to the incorrect side of the road up onto the footpath colliding with the pedestrians and the dog. The vehicle came to rest against an Aurora pole. The injured pedestrians were conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital by road ambulance. They are both in a serious but stable condition.

    The dog was conveyed to a nearby veterinary clinic for treatment. The driver was also conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital for observation.

    TAS Identity Required 

    Wednesday, 31 July 2013 – 12:32 pm.

    Police are investigating an alleged assault that occurred during the early hours of Saturday the 29th of June 2013 outside the Waratah Hotel on Murray Street, Hobart.

    As a result of enquiries conducted, police believe the two males, depicted in the attached picture, may be able to assist with their enquiries.

    TAS Injured and killed Dogs at Claremont 

    Thursday, 6 September 2012 – 9:37 am.

    Police are seeking any information in relation to the killing of a dog and the serious injury to another dog around 11am to 12pm on Tuesday 4th September 2012. It is believed that one dog was killed and another badly injured inside a residence in Mason Street, Claremont. Both dogs are pedigree English Pointers.

    The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated.

    Police are appealing for any persons who may have any knowledge of the incident or who observed any person acting suspiciously in Mason Street around this time.

    TAS Armed Robbery at Newtown 

    Thursday, 21 June 2012 – 8:33 am.

    At 4.50pm on Wednesday the 20 June 2012, a male person armed with a knife has entered the Chemart Pharmacy located at 127 Newtown Road, Newtown. The male person has then threatened a member of staff at the pharmacy before making off with an amount of prescription medication. The male was last seen on foot at the intersection of Pedder and Roope Street, Newtown.

    The male offender is described as being approximately 185cm tall, of slim build, wearing a grey hooded jumper and black track pants and carrying a small black back pack. The male was also possibly wearing a scarf.

    Medical advice obtained in relation to the medication stolen states that as with any non prescribed medication, inappropriately taken, can cause serious health problems and possibly death.

    Pharmacy staff were shaken by the incident but otherwise physically unharmed.

    Investigations into the matter are continuing and police would ask any member of the public who believe they may have relevant information, particularly of any suspicious persons in the vicinity of the Newtown area as described, to contact Hobart CIB on 62302111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
